Dave Preston

CIO & EVP Operations

Dave is the CIO and EVP of Operations at Global Critical Logistics. He drives technological scale and integration and engages the global organization in operational alignment. He works with all brand and vertical leaders to identify and capture opportunities to collaborate, integrate, and preserve core operating processes. 

Leveraging technology and operational experience, Dave leads the review, opportunity discovery, and alignment of operations and shared services across the global organization. He seeks to identify best practices company-wide, considering lessons learned from legacy brands and newly acquired companies.

Additionally, as Dietl International’s EVP, he actively manages Dietl’s financial and business planning while providing leadership and support to Dietl’s senior management, weighing in on the development and direction of new initiatives.

Dave has an extensive background in the fine art logistics industry, with over 25 years of experience. He began his career as an art handler, eventually transitioning into administration and management roles. Dave has worked at prestigious organizations such as US Art Company, Christie’s, and Dietl International, where he became a licensed US Customs Broker and was General Manager for many years. Notably, he played a pivotal role in developing the global operating system CargoScience and has been deeply involved in the technological advancements of Dietl and Rock-it Cargo, culminating in his appointment as the Chief Information Officer of GCL in 2020.

Dave is married to Julie Preston, Manager of the Dietl NY Exhibitions Department. He has five children and an 11-lb. Havanese named Dusty. Dave enjoys preparing family meals, live music, audiobooks, and weight training. He can be found on a baseball field or courtside at a volleyball game when not working.
